News from the County Chairman…
Hi everyone!
What a busy few months it has been with YFC coming back with a bang. Its been super busy but what a way to start the year with Chris’ Chairman’s Bash to get everyone going again!
At the start of October, all the Club Officers headed off to Oakerwood Leisure for our annual Officer Training Weekend – despite the weather, it was super fun and it was good to hear everyone’s plans for the year ahead… exciting things to come so watch this space. A few weekends later was our County AGM and it was an honour to have Marcus from Midlands Air Ambulance give a talk and receive a cheque of £10,000 from Chris who has done a fantastic job the last 2 years.
The Competitions Committee have been flat to the mat with the calendar/card competition and speaking competitions. There have been so many entries and the judges have all commented that so far, the standard is higher than ever. It’s great to see everyone throwing themselves back into competitions and making up composite teams up to allow other clubs the chance to compete! You can see the results so far a bit further down this email.
Incase you hadn’t already heard… we have a new County Organiser! Gemma has stepped up to the role and we all know she will be brilliant but please bear with her, she is currently still doing both jobs whilst we look to recruit a County Administrator.
Our County Carol Service is THIS Thursday at Shrewsbury Livestock Market! Alongside the carol service we have a craft fair and lots of mulled wine and mince pies to go around. Please come along, it will be great to see you all and start December off with a real festive night! With the new government guidance and this current climate, please do a lateral flow / PCR test prior to the event if possible, do not attend if you are feeling unwell and facemasks are to be worn in all indoor areas where possible.
One final note from me, with the last few years being so tough it is great to see all the clubs and membership doing so well – we have already surpassed last years total membership and it isn’t even Christmas! But please drop me a text if you need help with anything or have any questions. We endeavour to carry on as normally as we can whilst sticking to updated government guidance.
