Entertainments Competitions take place this week!
Our annual performing arts competition, running from 22nd to 25th February at the Civic Centre, Whitchurch, is a fantastic opportunity for all club members to get involved and showcase their acting, singing and musical talents.
Shropshire Young Farmers hold many different exciting competitions throughout the year but this is definitely the major one. This is a National Young Farmers' competition-clubs all round the country will be holding county competitions- and then there are further rounds. The competition rotates yearly between entertainments, pantomime and drama.
The entertainments and One Plus performances will be judged each night and after the final performance on the Saturday nigh, the judges will stand up and give comments about all performances and announce the results. It is a really quite professional events, with a great atmosphere. After the results, there will be a dance, also held at the Civic Centre.
I am afraid I am not allowed to give too much away about each club's performance. but I have found out a few of the club's titles. Nescliffe YFC's is Lad's Army- a parody of the famous Dad's Army. Whittington and Oswestry YFC's is a twist on Noah's Ark and involves a large cast with members aged between 15 and 26. Chirbury and Marton YFC are performing Oliver! (with a twist). They all have giant footsteps to follow as last year Whitchurch Young Farmers did tremendously well with their drama performance, making it as far as the southern regional round. In 2014, Whittington and Oswestry YFC made it all the way to the national final with their entertainments performance.
This year our event is kindly sponsored by Dale Brothers UK Ltd and Caleb Roberts Insurance Services. Each evening will feature two or three main entertainments performances from different YFC clubs from around the county, accompanied by some One Plus acts. We welcome members of the public to watch and support our young members.
Wednesday to Friday, performances start at 7pm, Saturday at 4pm. Advance tickets are available online from £7 for YFC members and £10 for non-members. Link: ticketsource.co.uk/sfyfc . Or on this website click on the 'Events' tab and then 'Buy Tickets'.
On the door tickets are £10 for members and £15 for non-members. There is limited availability of tickets on the night.
