Whitchurch YFC's Annual Ploughing Match 2017
The club are very proud to hold their very own annual ploughing match, with this years' being held on 26th March at Prees Heath. This was its sixth year running and has been the biggest yet with a staggering 130 competitors travelling from all over the country to compete. The beautiful sunny weather helped to bring over 300 spectators to the event who enjoyed delicious burgers, pies and cakes whilst they watched the ploughs go by. The club are delighted that it is now the largest independently run ploughing match in the country!
Entertainments was a lot of fun this year for Whitchurch YFC. The club performed a variety performance called "You've Been Trumped". It was no surprise that Whitchurch won best overall production in Shropshire as they had seven scene changes which were smoothly executed. They made it through to the West Midlands round where they were delighted to come third as all of their hard work had paid off.
The club found that they had a hidden talent this year - cheerleading. Their energetic routine to "You Can't Stop The Beat" from the musical Hairspray got them through to the West Midlands round where they came joint first place with Rushbury and Cardington YFC. After an unexpected and thrilling dance off, Whitchurch came second place, which they were very pleased with.
For the recent Chairman's Charity Challenge weekend, Whitchurch YFC held a 28 mile tractor run in aid of West Midlands Air Ambulance. The weather was perfect for the occasion and all who took part enjoyed a well deserved BBQ at the end. Well done Whitchurch!
