News from the County Chairman...

Well, I think I have just about recovered from the Performing Arts Competition. What a week it was! Many congratulation to Whittington & Oswestry on a superb performance in the Pantomime. Much Wenlock won the One Plus and a thoroughly entertaining sketch it was. Thank you to the Competitions Committee for organising the week. I am sure you will agree that it was full of talent and Clubs put in a lot of time and effort into the performances, making them amusing for our audience. The week was rounded off with a busy 'After Panto' Dance kindly organised by the Social Committee.

Good Luck to Whittington & Oswestry and Whitchurch who are representing Shropshire this weekend at the West Midlands Area round of Performing Arts at The Place Oakengates, Telford. Good luck also  to Lucy Bright and Millie Preece are representing Shropshire in the Senior Member of the Year Competition and Emily Abbot and Kate Ireland representing Shropshire in the Junior Member of the Year Competition. I’m looking forward to watching and cheering you all on, go for it!
On Thursday, Jessica Powell and I battled the snow to represent Shropshire YFC at the Shropshire Chamber of Agriculture AGM meeting and lunch. Featuring guest speaker Jeremy Moody on the topic of BREXIT. James Latter from Whitchurch YFC, who won last year’s bursary, gave a very informative presentation on the New Zealand sheep industry at the AGM meeting.
This month is a busy one for competitions, we have our Sports Day on Sunday 11th March with Mixed Hockey, Ultimate Frisbee, Jump Rope and Junior Dodgeball and on Sunday 25th, we have the Clay Shooting competition.
Rounding off this month the Social Committee have organised the Easter Ball on March 31st. Early Bird tickets are on sale on Ticketsource for £20 for members and £25 for non-members, and go up on the 17th March to £25 for members and £30 for non-members. This has been a sell out event in the past few years so get your tickets quick!

Finally, well done to all the members who have taken part in our second Chairman’s Challenge the 'Lent challenge'! You have all done fantastically at pledging donations and finding sponsors. We are raising money for Shropshire Riding for Disabled and Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. The third Chairman’s Challenge is the Community Challenge weekend 7-8th April which will take the same format as last year with clubs getting out and about into the community.
Keep safe and warm in the snow and see you all soon!
