News from the County Chairman...

Thank you to everyone who attended the AGM. Congratulations to Fred ‘Hove’ Allen for being elected as the Vice-Chairman and to all of those who picked up awards. Well done again to Becky for a fantastic year as County Chairman.
Congratulations to all of those who took part in the Intermediate Just a Minute Competition, especially the clubs who got through to the final which took place on Wednesday night. There was an amazing turn out of competitors and spectators at both rounds, which has got the competition league off to a flying start. Good luck to all of those who are competing in the Mace Debating, Junior Public Speaking and Disco Dancing Competition happening this Sunday at The University of Wolverhampton’s Telford Campus, TF2 9NN.
I hope to see lots of you at the County Carol Service on the 14th December at St Alkmund’s Church, Whitchurch for an evening of Carols, Mulled Wine and Mince Pies – all friends and family welcome. SFYFC’s Charities for the Year are; Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and Shropshire Riding for Disabled.
Don’t forget the Social Committees Winter Warmer Dance at Park Hall in Oswestry on the 16th December –it’s a perfect Christmas warm up and a great chance to catch up with members and friends from around the county!
For the Chairman’s Trip this year, we are off on a once in a 'lifetime adventure' travelling to Peru and trekking the Inca Trail! Please get in touch with Clarrie if you are interested and wish to see the plan of the trip.
Chairman’s Charity Challenges have begun! We started with our first challenge swimming Alderford Lake and are looking for ideas and clubs to take on the next couple of challenges. Get in touch with Clarrie for more information. All money raised is going to the Charities mentioned above. We have 12 challenges to complete in one year, will we do them all?!
Thank you for getting your membership in to the office so promptly – anyone who has not yet signed up please remind them to do so as soon as possible. Without membership they are not insured or able to compete.
The office will be closed for Christmas from Monday 18th December until Tuesday 2nd January 2018.
Merry Christmas, and best wishes for 2018!
